Medical & Dental Care:
The IWS Children’s Clinic

The OPRF Infant Welfare Society supports the IWS Children's Clinic, which is focused on delivering quality healthcare to children in need. Our state-of-the-art clinic provides a home for medical, dental and behavioral health services. For more information, visit childrenscliniciws.org.

Portable Dentistry Program

In addition to the dental services provided at the IWS Children’s Clinic, the clinic offers a portable dentistry program that visits more than 20 neighborhood schools in the nearby communities to give children quality dental services, including fluoride, cleaning, and dental sealants. Students needing urgent care are referred to the IWS Children’s Clinic for restorative care–a seamless flow from diagnosis to treatment.

Nutrition and Oral Health

Keeping kids healthy is the OPRF IWS’s top priority. Our programs and classes in nutrition and oral health help teach children and parents about healthy eating and healthy living practices. Our facility even has a demonstration kitchen, so classes help bring this information alive!

Last year, in 46 school-based workshops, our Oral Health and Nutrition Outreach Program reached 5,244 kids with tips for caring for their teeth and eating healthy foods.

Providing Care for the Whole Child

The Giving Library

Reading and literacy are not only important parts of a child’s development, but they can be fun too! At the IWS Children’s Clinic, each child picks out a book from the IWS Giving Library to take home after an appointment. The IWS Giving Library distributes over 15,000 books each year to bring the wonder and joy of reading to children of all ages.

Pet Therapy

Our Pet Therapy Program offers a comfortable and safe retreat for patients who may be struggling during their clinic visit. Twice a week, trained therapy dogs visit the Clinic and encourage all interested patients to stop by after their primary appointment for a brief encounter. Animal-assisted therapy is proven to significantly reduce pain, fear, discomfort, and embarrassment, while promoting feelings of confidence and joy.
